Wombeyan Caves, NSW

This trip we setoff to Wombeyan Caves via Goulburn for the October long weekend.

Wombeyan Caves are located 3.5 hours from Sydney, 50km north of Goulburn. Like the more popular and famous Jenolan caves , Wombeyan Caves are limestone caves.

Leaving on Friday morning we stopped off in Berrima and looked around the local novelty and gift shops.

Continuing on to Wombeyan Caves, after the turnoff at Goulburn there is some dirt road, but not too rough.

We are staying in a dorm which has 8 bunked beds, each having heating, no linen/cutlery provided, with a common kitchen used by all campers located nearby. There are many firepits around for cooking use if required.

Next day we headed off to the caves. The caves are about a 10 minute walk up the surrounding hills.

You can go on a self-guided tour or guided tour with a national park ranger. There are 5 caves to tour (1 which is self guided). We toured the Junction and Wollondilly Caves

Below is the cave you can visit during the self-guided tour - Victoria's Arch.

On the second day we visit our second cave.

Around the caves are plenty of walks. We took a walk to the local gorge where if your game, have a swim. The water was quite cold.

There are some small caves around here too, which you can go into and explore.

It's been a long day and a long walk. Time to have a breather and a nice cool drink and nutella.

We headed back home on Monday, and came across this through a town before we reached Goulburn. Yes, they are bras hanging outside. Why?????
