Today we are on a day trip to Kangaroo Valley, Located in the City of Shoalhaven, just 2 hours from Sydney and Canberra. A trip to Kangaroo Valley passes Fitzroy Falls (also blogged), so you can a make a day visiting both places.
We arrive at Kangaroo Valley at lunch time, and the first place we see is the Old Store 'The Worlds Best Pies'. The pies are freshly made in the store and range from chilli con carne pies, to mince and beef pies. The day we went they had sold out and had to wait for new batches.

The Old Store also sells pickled onions called Bum Hummers (1,000 farts in a jar!!!)

The Hampden Bridge completed in 1898, is the oldest suspension bridge in Australia.

Down at Kangaroo River for a swim. Bring your inflatable tyres and go through some small rapids.

You can hire canoes for trips down the river.

In the township there is a pub (of course), art and craft shops, and the Fudge House and Ice Creamery, which we visit everytime we come to Kangaroo Valley.

Around the town you can go horse riding. There is a holiday park if you want to stay longer.
Tips
- bring your swimming gear, canoe or inflatable tyre if you have them.
- bring some extra water/food for the trip
